Lotus Cup UK Speed Championship 2016 – Hethel (Round 2)

Monday 9th May 2016

Having been six weeks since the last sprint, competitors were eager to get out on track at the home of Lotus, Hethel in Norfolk with Borough 19 motor club.

Twenty-five cars filled the dedicated LoTRDC paddock. The weather was clear and the conditions good.

The usual fun of sprinting began with Duncan Fraser failing the noise test with his modified S1 Elise Sport 190. Never one to be deterred, he quickly changed part of his exhaust and carried on with the day.

The early part of the morning was filled with many cars coming off, and then one catching fire. Eventually the Lotus’ went out onto track, and managed to stay on it.

Organisational difficulties meant that drivers had to choose to forfeit their second practice and have just two timed runs, to ensure any points gained would count towards their respective championships.

Despite the disappointment, all of the drivers clubbed together and made sure everyone had their runs.
