Round 8 of the Lotus Cup UK Speed Championship took place last weekend at the famous Hethel Test Track at the Lotus Factory in Norfolk.

Sunny, dry weather meant the sprinting was able to get underway with ease, and each driver was allowed two practices and two timed runs.

It was another action packed day, with drivers in both Production and SuperSport classes pushing themselves and their cars to the limit. Martin Roberts, Mark Swarbrick, Adam Ruck and Jez Braker all saw themselves have offs.

Several drivers had difficulties with their cars, including Steve Porter and Rob Clark who are double-driving their Series 1 Elise, Dave Mann who had boost troubles , and Simon Foley who’s engine mount broke on practice two.

With the help of other drivers in the paddock Foley’s car was repaired and he was able to get back on track to do the final run, earning him a win in Production! Jez Braker, with his magnificent flower-pot induction kit took 2nd, and Martin Scarfe took his first podium place with 3rd. Scarfe was also awarded Driver of the Day for his efforts, whilst Braker has moved up to the top of the Championship leaderboard.

In the SuperSport class Dave Mann didn’t manage to get a second timed run in due to his car trouble, but that didn’t stop him, he still managed to take the spoils. John Taylor took a staggering 2nd, and Tony Pearman 3rd.

It was a good, sociable and sunny day under the big blue Norfolk skies.
