Lotus Cup UK Speed Championship 2016 – Mira (Round 3)

Tuesday 10th May 2016

LoTRDC drivers were welcomed to the track by The Bentley Drivers Club at the Mira Proving Grounds this weekend.

A very smoothly run event began with a convoyed sighting lap to familiarise all drivers with the track, before the first practice runs went underway.

Drivers undertook two practice runs before lunch, and two timed runs in the afternoon.

In the Production Road Going class Nigel Hannam took the win with an amazing time, and of all the LCUK Speed drivers he was only beaten by Duncan Fraser, who was driving in SuperSport Modified.

The competition in Production Road Going was very close after the top three, with Stuart Cheshire and Mark Swarbrick both getting a time of 56.78, and Adam Ruck just 0.01 seconds behind them with 56.79.

There was also a close run between the two Supersport Original drivers, Russell Whitworth and James Tubby, who, both achieved identical times on their second, and fastest runs. The win went to Whitworth, based on his 1st run being faster than Tubby’s.

There’s a great mix of driver ability and cars in the paddock, and a great sense of camaraderie and encouragement too.
