LoTRDC aims to provide safe, friendly and financially viable motorsport for Lotus owners. In 2007 LoTRDC launched the hugely successful Elise Trophy, which quickly established itself as the UK’s premier single marque club race series. For 2014 this has been given approval by the MSA to run as a championship.
In 2009 LoTRDC took over organisation of the world’s only official Lotus race series: Lotus Cup Europe, on behalf of Group Lotus. In 2013 this became an FIA International Series, enjoying similar championship status to GP2 and DTM.
Lotus Cup UK was added in 2011. The championship offers a mini endurance format of between one and two hours, with MSA titles awarded to Production and SuperSport each season. Lotus Cup UK has been a huge success, with average grids of at least 35 cars in each of the first three years.
The four championships will be joined by the Lotus Cup UK Speed Championship in 2014, a sprint championship with ten rounds scheduled at venues across the country. Its aim is to introduce more enthusiasts into the world of competitive motorsport and is suitable to those with road cars and no previous motorsport experience.
2015 – Due to the huge success of it’s championships where grids are at record numbers LoTRDC has decided they need to be run on a more commercial / full time basis. The Elise Trophy and Lotus Cup UK will have new organisation next year with ex-LCUK champion Steve Train and team manager Stephen Docherty collaborating to run them.
