LoTRDC aims to provide safe, friendly and financially viable motorsport for Lotus owners. In 2007 LoTRDC launched the hugely successful Elise Trophy, which quickly established itself as the UK’s premier single marque club race series.
In 2009 LoTRDC took over organisation of the world’s only official Lotus race series: Lotus Cup Europe, on behalf of Group Lotus. In 2013 this became an FIA International Series, enjoying similar championship status to GP2 and DTM.
Due to the huge grids in Elise Trophy and Lotus Cup Europe a new mini endurance championship; Lotus Cup UK was added in 2011. Races included exciting pit stops and ran for up to 2 hours. Championship titles were awarded to Production and SuperSport in each season due the the huge success, with average grids of at least 35 cars in each of the first three years.
The four championships were joined by the Lotus Cup UK Speed Championship in 2014, a sprint championship with ten rounds at venues across the country. Its aim was to introduce more enthusiasts into the world of competitive motorsport and is suitable to those with road cars and no previous motorsport experience.
2015 – Due to the huge success of its championships where grids were at record numbers LoTRDC decided that the Elise Trophy & Lotus Cup UK needed to be run on a more commercial / full time basis. Thus from the 2015 these two championships have new owners. The much higher profile Lotus Cup Europe and the enthusiast based Lotus Cup UK Speed Championship have remained under LoTRDC and both have benefitted hugely since the other two UK race series where dropped.
